First Magazine
In 2000 Randy started writing monthly business column for the Oklahoma Business Monthly. The opportunity came about when Randy took the entire magazine staff to lunch as a thank you for an article they wrote about his company.
During the lunch when they asked him what he thought about the magazine as a whole, he commented that as a business owner he would like to see columns from other business owners. Randy asked if he might submit the type of column he was thinking about. The owner of the magazine said, “sure”!
Randy replied, “I was hoping you would.” With that, Randy opened his briefcase and handed each of the staff a one page article about customer service. The article was published the next month and Randy’s writing career was off and running. The article was titled, “Can I get some Help Over Here?”
In July of 2001 his goal of getting a cover story was realized. The story is a quick review of Randy’s list of the “Top Ten Books Every Businessperson Must Read”.
